15 Impermanence of Time: A Screensaver
April 2025
Professor Sahar KhraibaniIllustrations created in ProcreateAnimated with Procreate Dreams
For this project, I created a ten-minute screensaver exploring the impermanence of time, specifically the way moments continuously slip forward, regardless of our desire to pause, rewind, or rush them. Time resists control. It moves with or without us.
The piece follows an animated cat wandering through a series of environments that transition seamlessly through the four seasons. The cycle loops endlessly, emphasizing both continuity and loss. The cat acts as a quiet witness rather than a driver of change. He explores, rests, observes with curiosity, but is unable to alter the shifting world around him. Through this gentle narrative, the screensaver mirrors how time often moves unnoticed in the background of our lives.
By presenting time as cyclical yet irreversible, I reflect on the tension between repetition and impermanence. We revisit seasons, rituals, and memories, but never in the exact same way. The work invites viewers to sit with that paradox: everything returns, yet nothing stays.
